Grilled Asparagus in Foil

Grilling asparagus in foil is a fast and easy way to cook this healthy and delicious vegetable. Foil packets hold the secret to successful grilling, preventing the asparagus from falling through the grates and locking in its sweet flavour, moisture and nutritional value.


For the asparagus

olive oil
sea salt
ground pepper
additional seasoning of choice

These are a heavy lifter when it comes to providing a nutritional boost. Asparagus are a good source of these essential nutrients: folic acid, potassium, fibre, thiamin and vitamins A, B6 and C.


  1. Wash asparagus and dry. Snap off the ends of the stalks at the first spot from the bottom. They should easily break off.
  2. Drizzle asparagus with olive oil. Season with sea salt, fresh ground pepper and other seasoning.
    HOT TIP – Drizzling with olive oil prior to seasoning will help the seasoning adhere to the asparagus.
  3. Cut a piece of aluminium foil. Arrange the asparagus in a single layer. Then fold the aluminium over so it forms a sealed envelope. This will lock in moisture and flavour.
  4. Grill the asparagus in its foil pouches for about 5-6 minutes over medium-high heat. Turn the pouch over about halfway through your cook.
